Science Experiment: Spoon as a Heat Sink
Have you ever had a cup of hot cocoa which was too hot to drink? Maybe somebody said “Put a metal spoon in it. It will cool faster.” In this experiment we test this theory.

Science Fair Projects – Jumping Cereal
Science fair projects should be interesting and engaging as well as educational. A jumping cereal demonstration is a fun science fair project idea or just a good activity for a science class. It is a visible demonstration of the effects of static electricity.

Buoyancy Song (Science Songs)
This buoyancy song will help reinforce the concepts of positive buoyancy and negative buoyancy, helping students understand the difference.

Density and Buoyancy Vocabulary Scramble (Science Printables)
Science printables help reinforce vocabulary and concepts. This printable word scramble puzzle features 18 density and buoyancy vocabulary words.

Bill Nye the Science Guy on Buoyancy
Since we’ve talked a little about bouyancy, I thought I’d share a video on buoyancy by one of my favorite science educators – Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Density – A Simple Explanation
Density is a measurement of how solid something is. Specifically it is the mass per unit volume of a substance. If you have two objects of the exact same size (volume), the more dense object will weigh less than the less dense object.

Air Pressure Demonstration – A Science Investigation
Air pressure is the force exerted by the weight of tiny particles of air. You can see the effects of air pressure with this simple demonstration.

Make a Paper Boat
Have some fun on a summer day and study bouancy at the same time. Make a paper boat! If you use newspaper, you can also talk about conservation (reuse). Work some mathematics into this activity by talking about the different shapes formed by the folding. How many triangles can you see?

Escape Velocity – Science Fair Project Ideas
We’ve been investigating escape velocity in the past couple of articles. Today, I’ll suggest some science fair project ideas for this escape velocity model.
